Re: Who to pick in a PUG...
imo, the acknowledged greats should collaborate and form a list. Then that gives people a reason to play. I know that I'm a very competitive person and would love to see where I ranked and try to advance a place or two. Maybe some form of challenge system could be invented to try to move up the ladder by playing against dudes ranked above you.

Re: Who to pick in a PUG...
well, skill seems very opinionated so it'd be a good idea to get multiple lists.

That's a good point.Turky wrote:well, skill seems very opinionated so it'd be a good idea to get multiple lists.
I think the most unbiased way to do this is to track pug pick orders across multiple pugs and just create list based on trends in that (however, only when capts are even lol).
GUARD!AN
–noun
1. guarding; protecting: a guardian deity.
2. a violent, tropical, cyclonic storm of the western North Atlantic, having wind
speeds of or in excess of 72 mph (32 m/sec).
3. (in Gnosticism) one of a class of powers or beings conceived as emanating
from the Supreme Being and performing various functions in the operations of
the universe.
4. a terrifying dream in which the dreamer experiences feelings of helplessness,
extreme anxiety, sorrow, etc.
5. The sensation and muscular spasm caused by an electric current passing
through the body or a body part.

Re: Who to pick in a PUG...
As much as I think these lists tend to bring out the worst in ppl, I love them anyways, judging is always a good time
My list:
Elite (Single handedly win games consistantly)
Tensor
Jkb
Wuf
Jawa
Guard
Great (Still able to carry, but to lesser extent)
kra/duo
Really good (these dudes are all really equal, each has his specialty class: yo as reborn boss, trk as snowtrooper, archi as jan, and raptor as demo..IMO)
Yo
Archi/Trk (Both really consistant and you know what you'll get from)
Roflraptor
Good
Pipe (Has practically perfected d-jan on hoth, but other then that isn't too far ahead of the rest of the tier)
Vail (Haven't played with that much)
Lorax/Fool
Sonic (Great reborn boss)
J3rk (is a ninja)/VDS (great reborn boss)
MadCow/Kane
Katy
Servicable (new to pugs and still need to learn the main strategies)
MR. KILL
general garm
What_console
Only reason I put me/lorax together is that we are both extremely streaky (at least from what I've seen)

Re: Who to pick in a PUG...
Lots of people in this thread really overrate me. I'm definetly not on the same level as players like Yo or Kera. I think Archi should be higher up on the list and piiipe should definetly be above me since its a proven fact that piiipe is the best player in the buisness. I'm not too sure why Laser is so low in the list, he should be around the top, he's really good when he isnt rusty

Re: Who to pick in a PUG...
There should also be a list of who not to pick. I'm the no. 1 anti-pick.
Re: Who to pick in a PUG...
is tens0r really as good as ppl say? not to be daft, i've just never really seen him play i don't think (unless he was aliased or somethin...)

Re: Who to pick in a PUG...
Thanks Magyk and Vail
I used to be one of the top picks behind the pug owners/elite, but I haven't played so much since new years.
This is my list (in no order inside each sublist):
Top picks (their team is expected to win almost always):
Tensor
Jakab
Guard
Carriers (can carry a team but need a certain degree of support)
Jawa*
Duo*
Wufei Chang
Saberdude*
Great
Kera
Roflraptor
Fusion
Ghoul
Very good
Turkey*
Archi*
Yo
Good-1
Vail
Pipe*
Sith
Cyclosarin
Good-2
Lorax
Afro
Phoenix
OK
J3rk
Magyk
Kane
Sonic
Katy
Mike
Fool
Cow
Blackout
Pub
MR. KILL
what_console
General Garm
Delta
*=specialist jan, thus these people are rated more highly
Bare in mind I haven't played much recently, so my list might not be completely accurate.
