ATTN: Zomb-ers

Postby Turquoise Dragon on Thu Apr 21, 2011 12:27 pm

I've begun work on my zomb_tunnels map. My idea is that it'll be a series of visually identical tunnels, lit by overhead lighting. There will be several levels to this map (depending on the size of each level). All tunnels will connect to something, so there are no dead ends to camp/hide in.

A preview of the small part I've done so far. | +

I feel like their should be one central room that's difficult to get to (due to the size of the maze) but it would be fun to try to get to that room so you could team up w/ doods.

:-) G'luck Mike. I look forward to checking this out. I'm working on a top-secret Zomb0rz project too, I'm glad I'm not the only dude still mapping.

I've got an idea along those lines, likely the zombie spawn (with saber, maybe).

As for progress, the map is coming along faster than I anticipated, but it'll still take a while. I'm caught between making it huge and making it not too big so we don't have 60-min zomb rounds.

The way Mike described it in the other topic, it sounded more like he wants it to be a map where the civilians have to continuously be on the run and never know their true location due to the complexity of the maze. While I agree that zombie is largely about the hiding/barricading, I think an "on-the-run" type of map would be a nice change of pace, if done correctly.

Yeah, I'm trying to make the tunnels large enough to avoid the midget spam effect. And yes, the idea is to make the civs move, because they have no place to hide, and no place to spam proper.

There are 3 types of zombie survival tactics:

1. The hunters - run towards the zombies and kill them off

2. The campers - find a secure place, stockpile resources, and fight off any zobies that come their way

3. The runners - keep moving so as to stay away from zombies

This map focuses on the last one, as I find the other maps favor the campers. Hunting is always an option, but isn't as effective in JKA. Unless the zomb is a total noob (me).

Allow me to do what I do best, by illustrating with pictures.
