Applications starting, but not?

Postby Magyk on Sun Aug 09, 2009 8:54 pm

Lots of applications, Firefox, Itunes, Winrar, explorer.exe, and other things will not show up on screen - however the process shows up in the task manager as if it was running.

For instance, I'll start up Itunes - and it will not show up on screen - but the process shows that it is in fact running. (After a few tries, I've been able to get some things to start.)

Tried all the generic stuff, restarting, virus scan, etc.

I have this problem when i start my computer. I can launch some programs, but some don't, even though I can see the process. After 15 min, finally, these programs are launched... :?

indeed the only good way to remove an update is thru system restore. but are you sure you can't do it thru add/remove programs? you'd have to decipher which one it is, since they had odd names...

please don't tell me you have vista.

I have vista :s I tried to install XP instead, but I dunno why, Acer hard disks only support Vista... The installation of XP failed, and I don't wanna experiment things to force the installation of XP. So I wait lol

Well that's an update, and when I click on this update in the list, there is no "modify/delete" button. I checked on the microsoft help center, and they said that this update cannot be removed :(

@dj : well it cannot be worst than Vista... I read some magazines though, and they said it wasn't that bad. But I may buy a mac too, I'm bored of Windows...
Anyway, you can download it for free as a beta version, and try out.

Never heard of a HDD only supporting one OS.

You know you probably have to format the drive first, right?
