JKA Crashing on startup

I went to play this morning for the first time since February, haven't changed anything (barely used my PC at all) and now JKA just crashes immediately after start up. Screen goes white, and then I get presented with a "Send Error Report" window. JKA was working the last time I played it. (<-Obviously.)

EDIT:
Oddly enough I can launch it as long as I don't do it through xfire... So I guess case closed.

This was happening to me with xfire as well. I could only run the game from xfire if I turned off xfire in game. I'd say you should try updating your drivers first.

If you have a nvidia card try this:

Go into Nvidia Control Panel > Select Manage 3D Settings from the expandable menu on the side > Click the Program Settings tab > Find Star Wars: reborn boss Knight - reborn boss Academy (jamp.exe) in the list and click it > Find the Threaded Optimisation feature and change it from Auto to either On or Off > Click Apply.

I think the guide/post/whatever it was that I read told me to change it to off but I found that I could change it to on and it would also work. It was only when it was set to auto that it didn't work. Ever since I've had the latest drivers though, it hasn't been a problem.

Xfire is still dodgy for me though, ever since this problem came up I've also not been able to flashback record games without having massive lag. Yay for xfire updates. :(

Xfire in general has gotten kind of shittier since like 2007

Xfire works with JA fine, but I can't click on a server to join it without a crash. I have to do it the old school way and yews the desktop icon and then join through the server list.

I'm running two NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GT cards so I'll try what you said though, and see if that helps any. ;)

My game only seems to do this when xfire is running, tbh.

Yea, this is what I was talking about. I found the same thing. It was only when the game was launched with xfire and specifically with xfire in-game enabled. When you launch JKA through xfire, the xfire overlay is enabled. However, if you launch the game separately, it won't have the overlay even if xfire is sitting in the background. If you disabled xfire in-game, you'd find that you could suddenly launch JKA from xfire without a problem.

So, I figured it was the overlay that was causing the problem and what I posted above just happened to fix it.

BTW, you don't have to connect using the list when using a shortcut.

This is what my shortcut command line looks like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars reborn boss Knight reborn boss Academy\GameData\jamp.exe" +exec autoexec.cfg +connect 208.43.15.160:29070

I just yews my desktop shortcut and go straight to Impulse and exec my autoexec.cfg again for good measure.

That's way cool Archi, I had no idea you could do that. Nice!

That is awesome, I might just make icons for impulse/tempest since they're the only servers I really yews! (PS: Does anyone play zombie anymore?)
