Can't chat bullshit

Playing JA on my new computer and for some reason I often have periods of 2-5 minutes where I can't chat or enter console commands. All my binds work, I can play the game like normal, but when I bring up the console or the chat prompt, nothing I type goes in. Then a few minutes later it's working again. It's fucking annoying and restarting JA doesn't do anything; it seems to happen at random. Any ideas, techys?

1. What kind of new computer? (suz have to ask)

2. My first guess would be that something else is interfering with the keys... maybe a num lock, or function hold, assuming this is a laptop. Try shutting down any third party programs as well.

I remember a similar problem with teh's mod... when cg_fixdemoscores was set to 1, on flood protected servers, my chats/console commands would only come through sporadically. Maybe try using basejka and see if SMOD is the problem...
