They are really heavy, and expensive to shoot.

As for the range, we were hitting at 300 yards with a standard nikon pro staff scope. We were shooting at a steel plate and the NATO rounds I picked up for it were shooting through the plate. So all in all yes it will kill lol. I feel sorry for any deer that decide to walk in my cone of fire.

Sounds real sweet. Ready for the 'zombie apocalypse', huh?

Aside from the aforementioned heavy and expensive to shoot, they're expensive to buy. Plus, why would you buy an expensive, heavy, expensive barret, when you can buy a cheap, light, cheap Carcano, plus the model was used in the JFK assassination. Plus the Carcano looks cool, non-sporterized carbines have a folding bayonet, and is made of wood and steel. Win over Barret in everything except bullet size.

Barret = over-glorified anti-tank rifle (at least if it was around for the world wars).

I'll take a FAMAS.

My Metal Gear Solid experiences have taught me to trust my life to it when in Alert Mode.

Hey man barretts are cool. They can fire tracer rounds , yes grant it they are expensive but worth it. If i had a second choice i would go with a sub to light machine gun possible a m16 or an oozie. I mean who doesnt want an oozie. I am sure if JFK was around he would thank you for that comment. Man a barrett v a Carcano the barrett would win by a longshot. (no pun intended) I mean they fire over 2,000ft and ther bullets are atypical placing it high on my list of favorite guns. I'd say the L129A1 would be the gun of my choice. And btw the barrett was issued in 2007.

Or...gun that looks and feels cool. Plus a bayonet.

As for an actual combat rifle, MP44. The design almost all modern snowtrooper military rifle/light machine guns are built off of. They should be importing .22LR replicas stateside this summer, too. Can't wait.
