Re: Siege Timeline
I still like my desktop better, but I think that saying their performance is limited (while true) is sort of misleading. I haven't run into a recently released PC game that I can't run at full graphics settings yet.

Re: Siege Timeline
Tricia's lappy has an i3 (not great I know), 4GB DDR3, 1GB GT540M...
My desktop is a core2duo, 4GB DDR2, 768MB GTX460....
I load much faster than she does when we play the exact same game and are doing the exact same thing.
I hardly lag on the Fleet anymore now that I got my 4GB, but she still is quite choppy.
I've even had her turn off all the power-saving features in the control panel.
I think that with lappys, heat is probably the biggest factor....lots of heat-generating components in a very tight, hard to vent area.

I used to like my destop until it fried yesterday
Fortunately all my homework stuff, JA stuff, sketches, and 'desktop pictures' are all backed up on my laptop. But that means no more desktop for JA, at least for a while

It stopped powering on. My power button lights up when it's on, but now it just flashes. Opened it up to see if I could see anything. When I try to power up, my fans start for about a second then stop. Assuming something internal got fried.

LOL
Wanna see? The 'normal' world would classify them into two categories: cool/awesome and creepy/disturbing.

Had this exact same problem about a year ago. Guarantee you it's your PSU.

Re: Siege Timeline
Yep....when a PC dies suddenly like that...it's usually the power supply.
Cheap and easy fix....it's nice if you have another computer you can borrow one from just to make sure.

Re: Siege Timeline
Yeah, if you have a decent PC just get a new power supply (or test an old one in it first) instead of a brand new computer. Mine did the same thing with the fans starting to spin, all my LEDs coming on, and then immediately dying.
