Apparently valve makes the same amount of money from each game purchase as the actual developer/owner(s) of the game.

For a while I have wondered why they do this for many of their own games, realized it is likely to keep those games alive enough that they kind still find other ways to profit off of them besides the direct sale of them...like those TF2 hats or whatever, do they sell those?
