"Hitler was the only evil Nazi" -Caesar 2016
Re: Rogue One teaser trailer
I am glad the literacy of this community hasn't changed any. I never explicitly said Hitler was "the only evil nazi," I simply intimated many of his soldiers and citizens were, for lack of a better word, brainwashed. Hitler was something of a savior after reviving the German economy post-WWI. His soldiers idealized him and, subsequently, would do anything for him...including commit murder.
It is a logical fallacy to assume that ALL of his soldiers held his radical anti-semitic ideals. This leads the logical person (which I assume excludes some of the board members) to assume not ALL of the Nazis were evil. Were some of them? Hell yes, but not all. I took this and applied it to SW.
Furthermore, in response to Magyk: who masterminded all of that, huh? The stormtroopers are cloned, brainwashed, hardly-human life forms. (whether cloned human beings are considered 'human' is another argument) Again, I assert the stormtroopers were simply doing what they were programmed to do. Whether they did it out of fear or lack of scruples is a different, and much more ambiguous story.
My argument still stands on its own merits.

Re: Rogue One teaser trailer
The vast majority of Stormtrooper in the Original Trilogy were not clones.
There is no evidence to suggest the Empire was brainwashing dudes like the First Order is.
Many people willingly signed up or desired to sign up: including Luke, some of his friends - and if we count EU even our own beloved Kyle
Your argument was "the empire is just nazis, and not all nazis were evil but basically most of them were so.." So really you just refuted yourself for me. Thanks.

I sincerely hope you will not teach English classes in a similar manner. The storm troopers were born following the execution of order 66. Clones=stormtroopers. The empire never held "open sign-up" days like you suggest. I said some of the Nazi's were truly evil. Some=10-20%. If I am doing the math right, 10-20% is not equivalent to most.
If you have to take what other people say out of context to argue, please find a different profession.
Re: Rogue One teaser trailer
The movies (by movies I mean original trilogy) never made reference to recruitment. I believe that is purely fan speculation or content from EU.

There is literally a conversation 15 minutes into A New Hope about Luke wanting to go join his friends at the Imperial Academy and Uncle Owen telling Luke to "stay on another year" have you ever even seen the fucking movies dude?
