Yes, I am prone to spamming unprovoked. This is from:

1. Golan - mostly from missing people (I'm not a pro shot with balls). I intentionally try to avoid the midget door and lifts with it, though. Unless you count that little passageway at the start of the infirm, which I'll pump a numbers of balls into when I see peoples in it.

2. Mines - mostly surprise/last resort/messing around. I even more so avoid the midget and lifts with it, although I'll place them before O spawns. As for surprise I'll admit it's pretty much a reflex for me to whip out my mines and hold alt attack when a dude comes out of nowhere right next to me. I'll work on that.

3. Rocket - not as much. I'll fire a few into the aforementioned infirm area with the intention of getting dudes behind the boxes.

I remember when you could spam anything as long as it wasn't mines...

Now everyone bitches about the slightest bit of spam.

Well I just cropped out the first screenie I saw with someone being "tripped." That's all I can really say.

Max Rambone wrote:I like how trk doesn't consider rockets and golans in narrow passageways spam.

Let's see... Lorax's map had no rockets to begin with, so I had no direct reason to talk about that in that context. I will, however, point out how rarely I *ever* play a rocket class on defense anymore, that's more Yo or Vail's or Duo's job. So that shoots down the first part. And Archi has also been guilty of firing rockets at the doorway at 2nd obj cargo in the somewhat recent past. As for the second...
Turky wrote:Also, it's a lot harder to spam golans when there's few lifts or narrow hallways/doorways (and no critical objectives for the golan to insta-explode on).

...kapish?

Max Rambone wrote:carefully placed mines are kinda the heart of siege, tbh......guess that's why they are considered OP over the whole of any and all maps.

Does it take the same amount of skill to dodge a "carefully placed" mine as it does to place it? I'm thinking an exponential relationship between the two, personally.

As for the rest of Archi's e-penis rant, I prefer to show people what I can do instead of making claims about it. So I'll leave it at that.

I will say for the record though, that being able to outsnipe someone in a sniper duel doesn't make one a better lando. Sniping other landos and sniping other dudes are two somewhat different skills (emphases on reflex vs. prediction), so it doesn't do any good taking out the other lando if you're just going to miss everyone else anyway. Not pointing any fingers at anyone, this is purely hypothetical.

And sorry for jacking your thread Lorax, I wasn't expecting to provoke Archi really. As you can see there is some debate about whether mines are necessary in a map :P detpacks are the compromise I think, since you can kill swoops with them and stuff (it's a trap!!!). The only difference is that with detpacks you actually have to be engaged in the video game to detonate them.

Rofl, somehow I knew before looking I would make archi's list of shame :) I guess I deserve that... I have been known to spam dudes quite a bit (but I am trying to change as I think can be seen in my rise in blob and e11 kills).

Hmmmm ok, I guess whenever I get this stuff done (ETA: 2 years :P ) I will plan to not include mines at first and see if I can "replace" them like I plan to "replace" shields with some lateral thinking map design. I really want to eliminate demo now though and possibly add another reborn boss or something as detpacks are really limited (small lifespan/extremely small range/has to be manually triggered/only really useful for det sking).

Re: siege_malachor off topic

Since dudes are so concerned with the malachor thread staying on-topic, I decided to spit it where I thought it went off-topic.
