for like 10+ years and has never had a problem. I know a LOT of people who have never had a problem with NVidia and swear by them

I've got dual 7800GT cards in my desktop, and a geforce gt 540Mw/CUDA in my laptop. Never had issues with either, and my desktop has been running one of my 7800s for at least around 7 years I want to say.

i heard that before, not really an explosion, but they can get on fire. There was a big argument when starcraft 2 was realased, and some vga cards just simply got on fire... because there was no FPS limit in the game, so in the menu you could see 64000 FPS (no this is not just a big number it's reality I read this on an IT site)

That is utter madness. It's weird, though, that mine had not blown up

PC vs Mac really depends on what you're doing with your computer. Different tools for different purposes, although either can do everything with patience and ingenuity, I guess.

I never understood brand loyalty in computers, or anything in general. When I buy things, I compare reliability, price, and performance. Trying to get the best bang for your buck is ideal, and something that dies relatively quick is very rarely good bang for your buck.

Well honestly my main reason for hating on AMD/ATI is because of their drivers. I have had no hardware problems with either ATI or Nvidia either, but between all the horror stories I have seen and heard of with ATI drivers and their pathetic support for my legacy cards (X800 and X1800) they left a horrible taste in my mouth.
