xfire + Dota 2

After installing xfire on my windows 8 laptop I've been unable to launch dota 2. It tries, but shuts down again without any messages. Shutting down xfire worked and dota launches like before. A quick google search gave me nothing.
Do you suspect it could be the in-game overlay that's causing problems? Or does anyone have other solutions? Has anyone experienced anything like this?



In other news: I've installed xfire and (hopefuly) passed all my exams, so JKA here I come.

Sounds good you're coming back. I've wondered (now) for a month if JKA works on windows 8.
The problem could be with xfire (if the game runs without it), as lately I've figured out that, xfire makes some kind of new enviroment when you start a game, and the game runs in that xfire enviroment. (I have seriously lost FPS in ME2 whit xfire on).

On xfire, go to settings, then the game tab or whatever it is.

There might be a setting that has something to do with tracking game statistics, such as kills etc. turn this setting off.

It caused no end of troubles for me on jka one time and turning it off fixed everything including world hunger
