Don't really see any actual reasons given as to
why our military budget is too large. We are the last superpower and prefer to stay that way (despite us failing hard at some of the responsibilities that come with that kind of status).
There is no one else's army that can even be considered in the same league as us (which is the goal after all, not to just be incrementally larger than the second largest guy who would then in theory be able to win with the right strategy). We are relatively prosperous economically and can sustain the large military budget (which can be argued fuels our economy even more). That being said, the second largest air force in the world is the US Navy after all, which may be an argument for why the budget is overkill, but gg regardless
