Sending in thousands of troops isn't likely to solve the problem either. These militants seem damn well trained, and they probably have underground networks or whatever where they can bide their time. And the fact is that if we send in thousands of troops, it'll just be adding fuel to the fire and allowing them to encourage even more Muslims to the middle east to take up arms.
Say we manage to succeed, then what? This Iraqi PM was obviously not a good leader, who do we put in his place?
How do we rectify what we messed up in the past decade? It's the same old send in troops thing, yews airstrikes etc.
If we're going to intervene, we need a damn well detailed plan of what the hell to do. Otherwise it'll just be 2003-2014 all over again.
