I'm running XP, Still having issues.
I stopped ending the processes, and much to my surprise stuff started running after about 3-5 minutes. It's still kind of annoying, but at least stuff will work if I need it too.

Itunes is fantastic btw.

You know what I always recommend:

1. Try reinstalling those programs.

2. Just reformat. Someone (I think turkey) told me you should actually be reformatting every 6-12 months. I do it about once every 8 months. It also basically forces you to back up regularly, at least until the cloud computing wave hits us and our notions of backup and running programs are completely revamped.

speeds of or in excess of 72 mph (32 m/sec).
3. (in Gnosticism) one of a class of powers or beings conceived as emanating
from the Supreme Being and performing various functions in the operations of
the universe.
4. a terrifying dream in which the dreamer experiences feelings of helplessness,
extreme anxiety, sorrow, etc.
5. The sensation and muscular spasm caused by an electric current passing
through the body or a body part.
