It's because their socialist system sucks.

There's a reason propaganda is still a relevant issue.

It's because it still works.

Oh, I'm sorry let me rephrase that to get rid of any "propaganda"

"Theres a reason many Canadians as well as many world leaders come to the Unites States for our health care.
It's because their system doesn't offer care that parallels the speed and quality of ours."

How many Canadians do you personally know who leave Canada to receive Health Care in the United States? How many world leaders?

None. Yet you throw out this "information" with as much conviction as if you were the fucking Canadian yourself. That's the byproduct of propaganda.

My dad knows several. He did heart surgery on them.

The wait list in Canada was so long that it was potentially longer than they'd have had to live (without a heart surgery). We're talking countless months here. So they come down here to Wisconsin, with almost six figures cash in hand, to have their surgery done.

Did they leave Canada for good? No, but they still had to come down here to rely on what at least used to be a non-socialized health care system.

But that's the problem, you see...
Once that socialized health care system is established, there will be NO NEED for 'six figures cash in hand' since the wait list wont be enormously long...Therefore anyone could have their surgery in a matter of days, even hours, without paying the extra cash...actually, without paying a bloody penny...

You're forgetting something: Canada has a socialized healthcare system already.

Not only that, but they've had countless years to work out the kinks in the system. So if anything, the wait would be even longer in the US.

Rephrase: People come to the US from Canada because Canada's socialized healthcare system makes them wait too long, even for mortally critical and time sensitive operations. And they have to have the cash in hand, because they aren't US citizens and therefore don't have health insurance here in the US. It's got to be paid for somehow...

So. If the US becomes socialized too, then both Canada and the US will have long waits for operations. What happens to those people who need heart surgery now, for example? Should they go to Mexico and get operated on by third-rate surgeons who might wash their hands for half of the time that first-rate surgeons do, and with filthy water? Lovely.

Socialized health care system doesn't fit a capitalist ordered country.
You didn't understand what I meant, not one bit of it....
That aside, I'm no one's lapdog, I just happen to agree with Kera on some points, holy shit, yea.
You being a smartass, that's not funny here...

Yes you all bring up valid points but..

Did you know

Michael Jordan having "retired," with $40 million in endorsements, makes $178,100 a day, working or not.

If he sleeps 7 hours a night, he makes $52,000 every night while visions of sugarplums dance in his head.

If he goes to see a movie, it'll cost him $7.00, but he'll make $18,550 while he's there.

If he decides to have a 5-minute egg, he'll make $618 while boiling it.

He makes $7,415/hour more than minimum wage.

If he wanted to save up for a new Acura NSX ($90,000) it would take him a whole 12 hours.

If someone were to hand him his salary and endorsement money, they would have to do it at the rate of $200 every second.

He'll probably pay around $200 for a nice round of golf, but will be reimbursed $33,390 for that round.

He'll make about $19.60 while watching the 100-meter dash in the Olympics, and about $15,600 during the Boston Marathon.

This year, he'll make more than twice as much as all U.S. past presidents for all of their terms combined.

Amazing isn't it?

However....

If Jordan saves 100% of his income for the next 500 years, he'll still have less than Bill Gates has at this very moment.

Game over. Nerd wins.

no but seriously, this was job well done.

Exactly, so it'd fit into the US that much worse than Canada already is. So if the wait in Canada is say, 6 months, then how much longer will it be in the US? 2 years? You tell me, wise one. Thanks for bolstering my argument here!

And you, too, didn't seem to understand what I said. At all.

But, I'll be nice and point out the elephant in the room:

Once that socialized health care system is established, there will be NO NEED for 'six figures cash in hand' since the wait list wont be enormously long.

That statement is incorrect, as my previous post demonstrates ("You're forgetting something: Canada has a socialized healthcare system already. "). So the wait list *will* be enormously long.
Or well, I guess you could say there'd indeed be no need for 6 figures cash in hand, since many of the people with heart problems will die... take your pick.

Socialized health care systems = long waits. kapish?

ps:

Therefore anyone could have their surgery in a matter of days, even hours, without paying the extra cash...actually, without paying a bloody penny...

That's wrong too. It gets paid for by something we like to call income taxes. It can get to like 45% or more depending on your income... my dad almost took a job in Winnipeg but they'd have robbed his pockets clean. 45% is way more than just about anyone in the US gets taxed.

Socialized healthcare doesn't equate to long wait times. That's a myth.
